My Skincare Routine

Seriously I can’t believe I’m old enough to have to worry about anti-aging products let alone blog about it. It seems like yesterday I was in my early 20′s spending the day at the beach, clubbing all night (do they still call it that?), going to bed with a face full of makeup and having fabulous skin the next morning. Now, not so much. It has taken me quite a few years and tons of money spent at Sephora, Ulta and Kiehl’s to find the perfect products that have helped in anti-aging so I thought I would share.

I think the most important 2 things you can do to help your skin are also the easiest.

1. ALWAYS take off your makeup before bed. I don’t care if I’ve drank too much at a mommy wine night, I always take off my makeup before bed.

2. Sunscreen. I think this is a given if you live in Florida like me, but regardless of where you live, summer or winter, put on sunscreen everyday. If you don’t feel like you can take that extra step, buy a foundation that has sunscreen in it.

So here is my skincare routine that I have actually seen results with.

1. Wash your face! I’ve been using the same face wash for years and can’t see myself changing it anytime soon. Philosophy Purity Made Simple. This cleanser is amazing. I love it because its natural, doesn’t have a smell and does a great job of taking all the makeup and dirt off my face. I believe it also won best cleanser by Allure a few years in a row.  I rarely touch cleansing wipes because they are too harsh on my skin from all of the chemicals but I always keep some just in case.

2. Get Deeper!  I love the Clarasonic Mia face cleaning tool. Although they are a little pricey at $99, I’ve seen a huge difference in my skin since using it along with the Purity.

3. Scrub! I think that exfoliating is one step many people miss in their skincare routine. I think if your older than 30 you need to be doing it. I (try) to make my husband do it too. When you exfoliate, you are sloughing off dead skin cells hanging out on your face that can make your skin look dull. Plus, when the skin is exfoliated, it will be more prepared for the serums and moisturizers to penetrate your skin properly. I have tried so many different exfoliators ranging from $5-$100 and was pleasantly surprised when I tried Yes to Grapefruit Daily Scrub for $10 and it was PERFECT. It is gentle enough to use daily if needed but I use mine every other night.

After cleaning your face your ready to treat or moisturize. I normally do treatments 3-4 times a week and moisturize everyday.

Treatments – 3-4 times a week

1. Spot Treatment! While I don’t have age spots yet, I do have melasma (also known as pregnancy mask) from being pregnant with Estella. After having Stella they didn’t fade and it looked terrible. I had dark marks above my lip, down my nose and on my cheeks. I tried about 5 different dark spot removers with no success and then tried Murads Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum and I am pretty much spot free. Although I only do the other treatments on my list 2-3 times a week, I use this almost every night.

2. Vitamin C! Antioxidant Vitamin C protects skin from free radicals and is essential in collagen production. I use Mario Badescu Vitamin C serum because it is formulated with hyaluronic acid to retain skin’s natural moisture and collagen to enhance skin’s firmness and elasticity. Vitamin C is not only great for your face but anywhere your showing signs of aging like your hands. This can be used nightly but I find better results if I limit it to 4 times a week.

3. Retinol! Philosophy Help Me. This product does so much from preventing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing pores and fighting acne. While this is a lower strength than you can get prescribed at the dermatologist, I like it because it doesn’t cause much skin irritation. If you have never used retinol before start off only using 1-2 days a week and work your way up. Also, this should only be used at night.

4. Peel! Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel.  This product is Amazing! It kinda handles everything at once. It contains vitamin c, brightens skin, exfoliates, helps with pores and fine lines and wrinkles. I use this once a week and always look forward to it!

Daily Moisturizers

1. Jojoba Oil – Jojoba oil contains tons of Vitamin E which is well known for promoting healthy and clear skin. It also anti bacterial and contains tons of antioxidants and protects you from free radicals.

2. Argan Oil- This is my can’t live without product!!! Argan oil balances out your skin’s natural oil production, helps with wrinkles by plumping the skin and can be used in hair to help with frizz, scalp to deal with dryness and anywhere else on your body.

3. Kiehl’s Midnight Revovery Concentrate- Made with pure botanical oils, this elixir provides nutrients to your skin overnight (when your skin repairs itself.)  I always see results the next morning when I use this product.

4. Tarte Maracuja Oil- This is my new favorite face serum and the eye cream is AMAZING. I actually have before and after pictures from this product that show how well it works. This product would be great for people who live in colder areas in the winter months. It really puts a barrier up between your skin and the dry cold air.

5. Philosophy Hope in a Jar Night- I love Philosophy products. I tried this product a few years ago after using the regular Hope in a Jar and seeing great results. I like this product when I need tons of moisture.

EYE CREAM- Tarte Maracuja C-Brightner Eye Treatment- Every morning and night I use this eye cream and the results are exactly what I wanted. My wrinkles are nearly deminished and it has helped my dark circles. Also during my period I always get dry patches under my eyes and I haven’t since using this product!

Before using the eye treatment

Although my daughter looks darling this mom has dark circles and crows feet.

After using eye treatment

I know I have tons of moisturizes on my list but I really use them all. Normally I rotate the Jojoba oil and Argan Oil every other night and will put Hope in a Jar Night over it. A few nights a week I use either the Kehls or Tarte on their own. It’s really working for me.

I hope if your looking for some new anti-aging products you check these out and let me know how they are working for you!
